If you’ve been thinking about starting college, or perhaps returning to college to earn a degree, the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh are co-hosting two special, “Start Here, Start Now” events. The first one is Tuesday, June 30 on the UWFox campus in Menasha, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The second one is set for Thursday, July 16, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at UW Oshkosh.
“Start Here, Start Now” will provide attendees with an opportunity to meet instructors and support staff from UWFox and UWO, explore possible areas of study, learn how to apply for admission and financial assistance, discover campus career resources and hear current adult students share their personal experiences.
Mary Ann Bazile, Interim Assistant Director of Student Services at UWFox, said, “ ‘Start Here, Start Now’ is a relaxed yet very energizing session that offers individuals the opportunity to informally meet with faculty and staff from both colleges and get a sense of how keenly interested we are in working together to assist students in realizing their educational goals.”
Many students who get their “best start” at UWFox transfer to UWO to obtain their degree. For example, Kayla Ziewacz (Menasha) said, “After earning my Associate Degree at UWFox last December, I’m presently enrolled at UW Oshkosh and majoring in Marketing. I plan to obtain my B.B.A. in Marketing. The completion of my degree will help prepare me for the many marketing challenges I will encounter in the work force. After I graduate I hope to join a dynamic marketing team where I can use my background to create, communicate, deliver, and exchange ideas to grow and advance.”
Ruth Freiburger, Director, Adult Nontraditional Student Resource Office, at UW Oshkosh encourages adults to attend either session. She said, “These sessions are targeted to adults who want to find out more about entering or re-entering college, how to earn an Associate, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, how to transfer credits from past courses, or how to be successful in college.”
Registration is preferred but not required.
