The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley has named Brandi Alonzo as the campus’ new athletic director, effective August 1.
Alonzo earned her Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration degree from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) in Hattiesburg, MS. As a student at USM, she worked in the campus’ Sports Media Department and was a scholarship student-athlete who played softball at the NCAA Division 1 level for four years. She also served as the facility supervisor for USM’s campus recreation center.
After graduating from USM, Alonzo was the Assistant Softball Coach for Louisiana State University-Eunice (LSU-E) for nearly two years. As assistant coach, she managed the team's strength and conditioning programs and created position-specific workouts for the campus’ varsity softball players. Alonzo also created and provided oversight for various team fundraising events, team and summer camps, and managed the team's website and social media sites.
In her role as Athletic Director at UWFox, Alonzo will oversee the campus’ intercollegiate athletic programs, including soccer, women's volleyball, women’s basketball, men's basketball, and tennis. UWFox participates in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference, which includes the other campuses that comprise the 13-campus University of Wisconsin Colleges. UWFox is a member of the WCC East Division.
The UWFox soccer team is the defending WCC-state champion and has won the WCC-state championship three years running, including 2009, 2010 and 2011. The men’s basketball team won the WCC state championship in February 2011, and the men’s tennis team won the WCC state championship in spring 2012. UWFox teams have produced numerous all-conference and all-state players in each of the team sports.
