The Weis Earth Science Museum is sponsoring the first-ever “Fox Rocks!” show. A number of dealers will be exhibiting and selling reasonably priced fossils, minerals and jewelry, and the show will feature earth science displays and door prizes. “Fox Rocks!” is being held in the Student Union on the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley campus from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19.
Dr. Joanne Kluessendorf, director of the Weis, notes that “There will be demonstrations, too, including how to facet gemstones and how to wire wrap jewelry. Appleton resident Dan Winter, who is a true artist at this craft, will demonstrate the faceting.
“This is a fun family event and a great way to beat cabin fever. You can come out and find a nice crystal to brighten these last days of winter,” said Kluessendorf.
The Weis Earth Science Museum is Wisconsin’s Official Mineralogical Museum. UWFox is located at 1478 Midway Road in Menasha. “
