The Fox Valley Concert Band presents its initial 2006-2007 performance this Friday night, October 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley’s Fine Arts Theatre.
Under the direction of band director Dr. Marc Sackman, the Concert Band is playing selected works by Karl King (“Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite”), Henry Cowell (“Hymn and Fuguing Tune #1”), John Barnes Chance (“Variations on a Korean Folk Song”), Roland F. Seitz (“March ‘Grandioso’”), Andrew Lloyd Weber (“The Phantom of the Opera”), and Dmitri Shostakovitch (“Finale, Symphony #5”).
The Fox Valley Concert Band, described as the “communiversity” band because it is comprised of both students and community members, will showcase six pieces, ranging from contemporary to Celtic to big band. “It’s a nice selection,” said Sackman. “There’s something for everyone.”
The concert is free and open to the public with open and unreserved seating. Free parking is available on the west side of the campus. For more information, contact Sackman at 832-2626 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
