The Political Science Club at the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley is hosting an “8th Congressional District Candidate Forum” featuring candidates Marc Savard (R-Door County ) and Andy Williams (R-Brown County) on Tuesday, March 9, from noon to 1:00 p.m. The Forum is being held in the James W. Perry Hall within the campus’ new Communication Arts Center, and is free and open to the public with unreserved seating.
George Waller, senior lecturer in Political Science at the UWFox campus, will be the forum facilitator and moderator.
Stephen Behnke, a first year student from Appleton and president of the UWFox Political Science Club, has been instrumental in bringing the forum to UWFox. "We’re working to get our students in contact with who wants to represent them,” he said. “This fall, we’ll have another forum with the 8th Congressional District incumbent, Dr. Steve Kagen, and the survivor of the spring primary.
“This is not a debate,” Behnke emphasized. “It’s a forum with less pressure than a debate typically has. I expect more open dialogue as well as an exchange of ideas.”
While there are only two of the five Republican candidates for the 8th Congressional District seat scheduled to be present at this forum, Behnke is working to schedule another candidate forum for April 12, with candidates Reid Ribble, Terri McCormick, and Roger Roth expected to attend.
