The concourse at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee will be tingling to the tunes of the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley’s Jazz Ensemble on Friday, February 20th. The Jazz Ensemble, made up of thirteen student musicians from the Menasha campus, one adult from the community, and one former UWFox student, will be performing a variety of contemporary and classic jazz numbers as part of the pre-game entertainment before the Bucks’ tip-off against their NBA Midwest Division rival, the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are led by super-star LeBron James.
The UWFox Jazz Ensemble will be playing from 6:30 p.m. until 7:25 p.m., or just prior to the traditional pre-game playing on the National Anthem.
Dr. Marc Sackman, associate professor of music and band director at UWFox, is the Ensemble’s leader on campus. He will be accompanying the group to Milwaukee for its showcase performance on February 20th.
Members of the UWFox Jazz Ensemble are David Block (Neenah), Jared Brustman (Appleton), Andrew Cameron (Appleton), Stephan Cherek (Oshkosh), Kody Croff (Appleton), Riley Greenwald (Larsen), Matthew Huang (Hortonville), Christopher Konkol (Slinger), James Krych (Appleton), Michael Mancoske (Appleton), Sean Menge (Appleton), Ryan Picard (Winnecone), Andrew Zelinski (Menasha), Jim Morgenstern (Neenah), and Cal Christensen (Black Creek).
“This is a great opportunity for our musicians to play in a venue away from home, so to speak, and in front of a big-city audience,” Sackman said. “The Bucks have a great tradition of having musical entertainment at their games. We’re proud to have the chance to show what we can do.”
