The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley women’s and men’s basketball teams have both enjoyed outstanding 2010-2011 seasons.
According to women’s coach Tracy Natz, the UWFox women's basketball team finished its regular season with a “huge” 64-62 win against UW-Fond du Lac on February 12. The win gave the Cyclones an 11-0 record for the second semester [of the 2010-2011 season] as well as a 12-game winning streak. “With this regular season ending win, the Cyclones improved to 19-5 overall and 15-4 in conference play…which is the best record in UWFox women’s basketball history,” Natz said.
“The UWFox men’s basketball team finished its regular season on the road with an 87-66 victory over UW-Fond du Lac,” according to Coach Lee Rabas. “We had already locked up the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference-East Division title, our first since 1993, on January 31st with a win over [traditional WCC power] UW-Waukesha. With today’s win we finished our regular season with an 11-1 record in the WCC-East and 23-1 overall.”
UWFox Athletic Director Pam Massey said, “Both our women's and men's basketball teams will be playing for the chance to get to the state tournament next Wednesday, February 23, at home. The women's game starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m. Their opponents will determined by games played over the weekend [of February 19-20].”
