On Monday, May 10, the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley is hosting its 2010 “Awards Ceremony” starting at 6:00 p.m. in the campus Union.
Nearly 30 UWFox students will be recognized by various academic departments for their academic excellence and service. The male and female athletes of the year, as well as the Scholar Athlete of the Year, will also be cited. The students will be presented with certificates recognizing their accomplishments by members of the respective campus academic departments.
Additionally, several students and staff members will be presented with other various awards.
Four students who are transferring from UWFox to four-year UW System campuses will be presented with a “Departing Student Scholarship” by a representative from the transfer campus.
Two UWFox students will be presented with the “USA Today/Phi Theta Kappa All-USA Academic Team Award.”
The campus Business Club and the University Multicultural Association will present awards to students whom the organizations are recognizing for their contributions to the organizations’ efforts this past academic year.
Two professional members of the UWFox campus community, a faculty member and a staff member, will be identified for their outstanding contributions to the campus this year.
And last but not least, out of over 12,000 students that attend the UW Colleges, an individual student at UWFox has been selected as this year’s winner of the prestigious “Lee Grugel Memorial Scholarship,” which will be presented to the student by UWFox Campus Executive Officer and Dean, Jim Perry.
Prior to 2010, these awards and recognitions had been part of the campus’ annual commencement ceremony. This year marks the first time that the Awards Ceremony has had its own separate ceremony and recognition evening.
