Age: 19

Hometown: Hortonville, WI

Current residence: Hortonville, WI

When attended UWFox: Fall 2012-present

Background before UWFox:

I graduated from Hortonville High School in 2012. I had several jobs while I was in high school and hold presently, including Program Director at Karate America in Greenville; Sales Associate at Ruum American Kids Wear; Teachers’ Assistant at Little Angel’s Child Care; and Marketing Intern at UWFox. I was involved in several activities during high school including the National Honors Society, Track Team, Student Council, Band, Colorguard, 4-H,  Link Crew, and CRAVE (a youth group at New Hope Lutheran Church).  I was blessed with a high school graduation gift of a trip to Greece and Italy. I was able to go with my mom and my aunt on a cruise through the Greek Islands and spent time in Venice, Italy with a previous foreign exchange student and his family that my mother knew.

Why did you choose UWFox?

I chose UWFox because it was the least expensive option compared to the other college campuses I was considering. It’s my goal to finish my bachelor’s degree and come through debt free. Coming to UWFox my first year saved me thousands of dollars and I’m still gaining a quality education.

Have you chosen a major?

Business and Marketing Major

What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox?

I’ve had an amazing experience at UWFox. By being involved in the ballroom dance club and Campus Crusade for Christ I’ve met incredible friends. Another aspect is that UWFox ‘s size allows for small class sizes, and it’s an opportunity for freshman and sophomores to become campus leaders. I was honored to become a student representative for the UWFox marketing team, and in the spring semester I was granted the opportunity to become a marketing intern. This opportunity looks great on my resume and helps me get experience in my field.

What are your career plans after UWFox?

I plan to transfer to UW-Whitewater in the fall of 2013. After I graduate from college, I hope to build on my career by possibly specializing in social media marketing, or event planning.

Other interesting things you’d like to share?

I enjoy being active and achieving goals. I started karate in 2003 and persevered for nine years culminating in earning my third degree black belt in karate. At age 13, I became an instructor and it became one of my passions. I love to be able to inspire children and helping them grow physically, mentally, and develop necessary life skills for their future.
