Age: 19

Hometown: Larsen, WI

Current residence: Larsen, WI

When attended UWFox: Fall 2009 - Spring 2011

Background before UWFox:

I graduated from New London Senior High in the Spring of 2009.  That summer I was employed in a small cheese factory dealing with retail sales and packaging cheese products. This past summer, in addition to the weekend job at the cheese factory, I worked for a metal fabrication shop in Oshkosh. The summer before I attended UWFox, I flew for my first time, taking a trip to Seattle to visit my cousin, who is currently living out there.  I enjoyed sightseeing when I was there. My favorite place that I visited was the Space Needle at sunset. The view was breath taking.

Why did you choose UWFox?

UWFox is a short 25 minute drive from my parents’ home which helps me save money on room and board.  This campus offers a spectacular education with a low price tag. Another reason I chose UWFox was because I had the opportunity to continue playing basketball and volleyball. I have very close knit relationship with my family and I had the opportunity to be around to support them while still beginning to spread my wings.

Have you chosen a major?

I’ve not officially declared a major, but I’m leaning toward something in the sports medicine or physical therapy fields.

What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox?

The professors are very approachable and very easy to talk to when I had any issues, which has helped with my success here at UW Fox. I have made a lot of friends here at the campus that I can hang out with. It’s a smaller campus, which it makes it a little easier to make friends and continue to share a relationship with them. Being able to participate in sports here at UWFox has helped me develop a lot of really close friends. Sports also made UWFox more than just coming to college and leaving. It really helped me connect more with the campus. The sports here are really fun and help keep you active.

What are your career plans after UWFox?

Hopefully, once I receive my degrees I will be working as a Physical Therapist or and Athletic Trainer.

Other interesting things you’d like to share?

I played two years on the UWFox women’s volleyball team and this winter I expect to be playing in my second season of women’s basketball. I was named UWFox women’s basketball team captain for the 2009-10 season, was named to the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference “Honorable Mention” basketball team at the end of the season, and played in the WCC all-star game. I was on the Dean’s List for my first two semesters at UWFox. I love to help coach my mom’s New London Youth Basketball Association team, and coach my sister’s “3 on 3” basketball teams, whenever I have time.
