"I would highly recommend taking a serious look at how UWFox  is able to guide you in the right direction towards achieving your goals and dreams."

Age: 20

Hometown: Oostburg, WI

Current residence: Little Chute, WI

When attended UWFox: Fall 2009 through Spring 2011

Background before UWFox

"I attended Little Chute High School and graduated in Spring 2009.  While I was in high school I started working at Little Caesars Pizza, and still work there while going to college.  I also work in the Learning Center at UWFox.  It’s really nice because it helps me interact with some people by helping them find a tutor for a subject they may need help in.  During high school I was fortunate enough to take a trip to New York City, for my Future Business Leaders of America club. It’s still one of my most favorite trips that I’ve ever taken.  There was so much to see and do…I still wish I could go back for another visit."

Why I chose UWFox?

“I chose to come to UWFox because I wanted to continue to live at home with my family and save money during my first two years of college before going to a four-year campus. Also I wanted to play intercollegiate basketball for two years which I was able to do at UWFox.”

Chosen College Major

“Currently I’ve declared myself an education major. I’m still trying to decide if I want to be a teacher or if I want to switch and do something in the social work or psychology fields. The reason why I choose to become a possible education major is because I was greatly influenced by a few of my high school teachers.”

What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox?

“The things that I really enjoy and find interesting about UWFox are that there are so many ways to meet new people each semester through all of the on campus events. The professors also look at you like an actual student and not just another number like they might do at bigger universities. They also are always more than willing to help with anything during their office hours. Some of the classes that I really enjoyed here at UWFox were the philosophy courses that I took, including Introduction to Philosophy, Asian Philosophy, and Ethics.”

Career plans after UWFox

“I will be transferring to UW-Oshkosh where I plan to continue my college education, majoring in either education or possibly something in social work or human services.”

Other interesting things

I was a member of the UWFox men’s basketball team for the past two seasons. We were able to go take second place at the state tournament during my first year and then went 26-1and won the state tournament championship in my second year. Both of these seasons were unbelievable experiences for me.
I’m part of a family of four that includes my mother, father, and my younger sister, who’s a sophomore in high school. I’m a huge fan of soccer, especially of the English and European teams. I also enjoy watching Team USA in international soccer matches. I love being outdoors in the fall and summer, especially sitting around with friends at a camp fire or playing pick-up basketball games with some of the guys. What I often do during some of my down-time is listen to music, which includes just about anything because I like all the different genres of music.”
