Age:29

Hometown: Menasha, WI

Current residence: Little Chute, WI

When attended UWFox:I began attending UWFox, as a full time student, Summer Semester of 2012.

Background before UWFox

I Attended Menasha High School and graduated in spring 2002.  Throughout my high school career I worked at Subway Restaurant as a “sandwich artist.” Before attending UWFox, I moved every 2 ½ years consistently for a total of six years.  I also traveled to the Grand Canyon, Arches National Park in Utah, and downtown Colorado all in one unforgettable road trip.

Why did you choose UWFox?

I had the pleasure of being involved with UWFox’s Veterans Outreach Organization and various events on campus which allowed me to expand my network of contacts at the campus.  After speaking to other adult students, as well as advisors, I decided to take full advantage of the opportunity to continue my education in my home town of Menasha.

Have you chosen a major?

Radiology Technologist

What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox?

I honestly learn something new and interesting everyday on campus.  It has literally been about eight years since I’ve attended college courses, and about 12 years since I have thought about chemistry, elements and the periodic table.  With that being said, the free tutoring service available on campus has enabled me to work with the chemistry tutor while allowing me to meet others in my classroom, as well as grasping the full understanding and concepts necessary to complete the course.

What are your career plans after UWFox?

I plan on attending the radiology program facilitated through one of the following health care centers: Theda-Clark in Neenah, Bellin Health in Green Bay or Marian University in Fond du Lac.

Other interesting things about yourself that you’d like to share?

After high school, I worked while attending Fox Valley Tech, at first studying Interior Design. I later changed my major there to Dental Assisting and then I decided to take a break from college because I couldn’t decide what I wanted to do.  For a while I worked as a teller at a bank, which gave me the opportunity to work in Deposit Operations for both business and personal accounts. While at the bank I also worked in the Flexible Spending department for a separate financial institution and later worked in the Loan Processing department.  I gained a great deal of knowledge throughout my first 10 years out in the “real world.”  Currently, I work on-campus in the Student Affairs office and have been a part of the FOCUS program which is specifically for new students attending UWFox.  In my free time, I try to do anything outdoors … especially Frisbee golfing (disc-ing) and other sports like kickball, volleyball or softball with my friends every Sunday for something we refer to as Sunday Funday.  I also enjoy shooting in a pool league one night a week in the Fall and essentially spend very little time sitting still.
