Current residence: Appleton, WI

Background before UWFox:

John graduated from Appleton East in Spring 2005. He worked for Air Duct Pros (cleaning air ducts) and was a sales rep for the “Packers Pro Shop,” selling Packers paraphernalia from a stand before and after the games.

Why did you choose UWFox?

“I chose to attend UWFox because it’s great education for a much cheaper price. I’ve been living at home for my first years of college while completing the requirements for my Associate Degree. That gave me the opportunity to save money and keep a steady job at Lowe’s, where I’ve been a member of the Lowe’s team for two years and am still employed there.”

Have you chosen a major?

“I haven’t yet declared my major, but have decided it will be in the business field. I’m thinking about business management, sports marketing, or human resources. Also, there’s a good chance that I’ll double major, in sports marketing and social work.”

What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox?

“I’m finding out that UWFox has a well-respected and rigorous faculty. I’ve also found most professors here are available and helpful for individual students. You can get to know them on a more personal level. I’ve been told from many professors that I made their class interesting and fun.

The campus’ ‘Guaranteed Transfer Program’ is available to any student who’s interested in transferring to any of the four-year UW schools if certain requirements are met. That can give you more freedom to choose where you want to go. There are a lot of scholarships available to all students. I’ve received three of them myself.”

What are your career plans after UWFox?

“I plan on transferring to UW Oshkosh to earn my Bachelor’s Degree. I would like to be a sales representative or a marketer for a professional sports team, preferably a National Football League team, like the Green Bay Packers. After establishing a solid understanding of the job, I would possibly try to switch and work for my favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers.”

Other interesting things you’d like to share about yourself or your experiences at UWFox?

“I played on the basketball team for two years and was captain of the team both years. I also played tennis this last semester. My teammate Jim Krych and I ended up winning state at number two doubles.”
