“The opportunity to get to know my professors and the rest of the staff on a personal basis through my work at Campus Services has really rounded out my college experience.”

Hometown and current residence: Green Bay; currently lives in Menasha

Current program: Nursing

Background before UWFox:

After high school I went to cosmetology school and worked in that field for a few years after obtaining my practitioner’s license. Through the experience of having my son, I knew my passion lied in the health care industry. I obtained my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate and worked a lot in an administration role. I knew I wanted to be hands-on, so I decided to go back to school.

Why did you choose UWFox?

I chose to go to UWFox because it’s close to home and the best decision for my family. We have many opportunities here, such as onsite childcare and on campus jobs that work very well for my family (my husband is also a UWFox student).

Who is your favorite professor and why?

I couldn’t pick just one – I like them all! I get the opportunity to interact with all of them outside the classroom when they come to the Campus Services office, where I work.

What’s one thing at UWFox no student should miss?

The first day of classes. And yes, I’m speaking from experience!

What is some advice you can give to incoming students?

Get to know the faculty – they’re here to help you. That’s the beauty of UWFox; the smaller class sizes really allow you to have a personalized learning experience. Your professors will know you by your first name, not an ID number. Also, use the guidance of your adviser. That want to help make sure you’re taking the right education direction, and they’re very experienced in their own fields; I love that my nursing adviser has a nursing degree. She’s able to give me a clear vision into what my future in the field can be.

What has been your favorite experience at UWFox thus far?

The opportunity to get to know my professors and the rest of the staff on a personal basis through my work at Campus Services has really rounded out my college experience.
