Background before UWFox

I graduated from New London Senior High School in Spring 2010. During my four years of high school I worked as a snowboard instructor at Nordic Mountain, at Vinny’s Pizza and Pasta as a cook and waitress, and also as a lifeguard and swim instructor at New London Aquatic and Fitness Center. During the summer 2009 I spent some time in New Orleans for the National Youth Gathering. 20,000 young people were at New Orleans during this week and we all did different service projects through out the city. Most of us were still cleaning up the city from Hurricane Katrina. The sites and faces of the city are some I will never forget.

Why did you choose UWFox?

Coming out of high school I wasn’t sure what career path I wanted to take, and I wanted to try a variety of classes to get a feel for what I would like to do. I also chose UWFox to save myself some money in the long run. The campus is a short 20 minute drive from my parents’ house, and I save a lot of money by living at home.

Have you chosen a major?

I’ve not chosen a major yet, but I am strongly considering neonatal nursing.

What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox?

I like having a personal level in the classrooms. It’s nice to be walking around campus or the local area and see a professor you have or had have, and have them know your name when you say hi. It makes asking questions in or outside of class that much easier.

What are your career plans after UWFox?

I’m not entirely sure about my career plans after UWFox, but I am considering going into a nursing field.

Other interesting things about yourself that you’d like to share?

During my two years at UWFox I played for the women’s volleyball team and this year received all conference honorable mention. I hope to play volleyball next year at whatever campus I wind up transferring to.
