Background before UWFox
I graduated from Appleton North High school in Spring 2011. I started my first job at Grand Meridian. I’ve been working there for two years and I love working there. I work with some wonderful people. I do dishes, bus tables, landscaping work and cut the grass. I enjoy traveling with my family, and I’ve been able to go to the lower 48 states. I have been to Florida many times, to see all of the parks. I’ve also had the chance to go to Canada to stay at a cottage we rent for a week. We go fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boating. My family and I have been fortunate to be able to go to Cincinnati the past eight years to watch a professional tennis tournament. It is a really cool vacation for us because we really enjoy watching and playing tennis.
Why did you choose UWFox?
I chose UW-Fox because it was in my price range and I wanted to go where my dad graduated.
Have you chosen a major?
I’ve chosen to do my major studies in Physical Education because I loved gym class as a kid and still love it now as a college student. I Hope that I can coach or assistant coach a team if I can’t get a job right out of school.
What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox?
UWFox is a great place to start if you don’t know what you want to do. I remember hearing stories that people always change their minds about what they want to be/do when they grow up. I did that myself. I wanted to be a computer person but then I lost interest in it when I didn’t know what the problem was. Now I want to be a gym teacher because I love it and love working with kids. UWFox is rewarding because it has the help that you need almost 24/7. If I need help on homework I either go to the professor or go to the campus Learning Center where somebody is almost always there that can help. The professors are nice and easy to work with.
What are your career plans after UWFox?
After I achieve my Associate of Arts and Science Degree from UWFox, I’ll transfer to a four-year college to get my bachelor’s degree and maybe a master’s degree in physical education. At this point, I have no idea where I’ll be transferring to.
Other interesting things about yourself that you’d like to share?
In high school I played tennis all four years. I was a quarterfinalist in doubles in the conference tournament my junior year. At UWFox I had the chance to play on the soccer team for two years, and we won the conference title and the state title the first year I played. I also had the chance to play on the UWFox tennis team, and we won team state title both years I played. I coached little kids in the “Bus N’ Bowl” program. I also coached in the Midwest Youth Tennis program for little kids. I played hockey for three years, which was a great team experience. Hockey has always been a big passion in my life. I went to my first hockey game when I was seven years old and knew nothing about it. Yet I still love hockey to this day. I am the middle child of three in our family, and the only one with red hair.
