Writing Center Director (50%)

Position Overview

The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley invites applications for a new position starting August 25, 2008 with the working title Writing Center Director. This is a 50%, 9-month academic staff position with the possibility of renewal depending on successful performance. The directorship requires a time commitment of 20 hours a week during the fall and spring semesters.

Responsibilities

Typical duties include the following:

  • Tutoring students in writing
  • Hiring, supervising and training student writing tutors
  • Managing Writing Center operations
  • Developing Writing Center mission
  • Tracking student usage
  • Assessing and reporting on Writing Center performance

Qualifications

M.A. in English or related field preferred. B.A. in English or related field required. A strong background in writing instruction/tutoring, supervisory and managerial skills required. Teaching excellence is required.  Ideal candidate will be student focused, have the ability to work well with students from a wide range of backgrounds, and demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills.

Salary

$30,086 academic year full time rate ($15,043 at 50%).
