Customized Information Literacy Instruction
Information literacy instruction gives students the tools they need to get started on an assignment, develop their research skills, and feel more comfortable with the research process. Students will learn crucial information literacy skills needed throughout their college careers and the rest of their lives. Librarians are available to provide customized instruction on a variety of topics including:
- Getting started, where to look for information
- Recommended sources by subject
- Finding articles and navigating library databases
- Finding materials in the physical library, using Search @ UW
- Evaluating sources
- Developing and using citations
If you would like to schedule an instruction session, contact a librarian at least one week prior to your preferred session date.
Librarians can create customized online research guides for your classes and assignments. Contact a librarian to learn more about these guides or to have a guide created for you. See a list of current online research guides at UW-Fox Valley.
You may put items on reserve in the library for your students to use. This can include copies of old exams, articles, books, videos or anything else. Typically, items on reserve are used in the library or checked out for a short period of time. Contact a member of library staff to place an item on reserve.
Materials to Support Courses
If you need specific books, films, or other materials for your classes, the library can order these and add them to the collection. The library's mission is to support the UW Colleges curriculum, so these additions are important to us. If you need library materials for a course, please contact a librarian to place an order.
The UW Colleges Libraries collection (including print materials and electronic resources) is available to all faculty and staff. While our collection primarily supports the UW Colleges curriculum and the research needs of freshmen and sophomore students, the library also supports faculty and staff research through interlibrary loan. If you are looking for materials for your research, or need assistance ordering a known title or article through ILLiad, please contact library staff.
